The U.S. Go Congress is the largest Go activity in North America. It happens once a year and spans one week. Events include the US Open, professional lectures and game analysis, continuous self-paired games, and all kinds of Go-related activities from morning to midnight. Come for the Go. Come for the camaraderie of old friends. Whatever your reason, we are looking forward to seeing you there!

This year, the Congress is being held at Kent State University about an hour south of Cleveland, Ohio. It's a large university campus with plenty of housing, food options, and amenities. The Congress will be taking over the entire Student Center for the week.  There are many attractions and activities to do in the surrounding area, so it's an ideal summer vacation destination for players and non-players alike.

First timer?

Attending the Congress for the first time is both exciting and a bit overwhelming.  Each day is pack with Go-related events that start with the US Open in the morning and extend into the night.  There will be about 20 pros from around the world at your fingertips for lectures and simultaneous games.  And if you are not used to crowds, get ready for the 500-600 attendees that typically show up at this event.  You will make lots of new friends.

Things to Know

Before registering, it's a good idea to review the costs of fees, housing, and meal options.  You can also review the FAQ page, the professionals coming, and other information. The most important rule is that at least one person in your party or family must be an AGA member.  Now's a good time to make sure every player's AGA membership is up-to-date, or players should join the AGA if not a member.

Ready to begin the process? After you've registered, come back to this page to get tips on planning your trip.

Plan Your Trip

View airport transportation options and sign up for excursion trips on the Wednesday off-day.  You will also be given a chance to buy congress memorabilia, such as coffee mugs, extra t-shirts, and other items. Finally, check the FAQ page to see what items to bring, what kind of clothing to wear, and other helpful information.

We look forward to seeing you across the goban very soon!

Our operators are standing by now.  No, not really.  But, you can email any questions to the Congress Registrar and expect to receive a cheerful reply quickly.  If you ran into any registration problems along the way, we'd like to hear about those too.

You can also post your questions or comments on the Congress Forum
