On the Board: From the Chair

I’m happy to announce the first ever quarterly AGA Chapter Heads online meetup. It will be taking place on Zoom at 8:30pm EDT on Tuesday, October 22, 2024. You can find the Zoom link on the Massachusetts Go Association (MGA) page on OGS here: https://online-go.com/group/45.

At the annual Chapter Assembly meeting at the Congress this year, the idea of holding these interim meetings throughout the year was raised. It received an enthusiastic response.

It will be an informal gathering, and I look forward to seeing many chapter leaders and other interested Go organizers and volunteers there.

To give some structure to the meeting, here are a few topics for discussion:

How we want to organize this meeting

• Quarterly on Zoom, with the next meetings in January and April?
• Breakout rooms to brainstorm with each other?
• Informal (like this one!), or more formal?

What do we hope to accomplish?

• Make specific recommendations to the Board and/or Administration.
• Identify long term goals.
• Add a specific item to the agenda for the Chapter Assembly at the Congress.
• Chapter leader communications system?

New clocks!

• The AGA plans to acquire a new set of clocks to replace the current Ing clocks, which are slowly diminishing in number as they fail in their old age.
• Ideas on what should the replacements be. We will present current candidates.
• When purchasing, should the AGA buy extras to sell to chapters?
• Would chapters be interested in getting the old ones, which for the most part are still perfectly useable?
