Housing/Dining

Southwestern University provides the following options for on-campus housing.  Local hotels are also available. However, they are located over a mile from the campus and there will be no shuttle service available between the hotels and the campus.

NOTE: Sign-up for housing is not yet available and is targeted for mid-February. We will notify everyone who has registered for the congress by e-mail once the housing sign-up pages are open.

Once open you will find a link here to sign-up for on-campus housing.

Meanwhile, you can review the information below to assist with your planning.

Currently, Housing and Meal rates are estimates and should be used for guidance only.

On-campus housing/dining

Southwestern University provides both dormitory rooms and apartments for on-campus housing.

Dormitory rooms

  • Dormitory rooms are organized into shared 4-person suites.
  • Each suite has two bedrooms, sharing a bathroom and a small common area.
  • Each bedroom, has two XL twin beds. This would be the most economical option for housing while at the congress.
  • The cost per bed is $360 / week ($45 per night).
  • For those preferring  to have a private room, one should reserve both beds in a single room at the cost of $640 / week ($80 per night). However, the bathroom will still be shared with the adjacent room.

Area Restaurants

Most Congress attendees will find the on-campus cafeteria convenient, economical, and tasty, and the
meal plan is highly encouraged, but you will have other options.

There are a number of restaurants within a 15-minute walk from the campus, most of them clustered
around the town square and courthouse in the center of Georgetown. These would include:

  • The Golden Rule, 606 Church St.
  • The Grumpy George Pub and Grub, 114 E 7th St.
  • Juliet Italian Kitchen, 701 S. Main St.
  • Goodfolks, 119 W. 7th St.
  • Blue Corn Harvest Bar & Grill, 212 W 7th St.
  • 600 Degrees Pizzeria, 124 E 8th St.
  • Sweet Lemon Kitchen, 812 S. Church St.
  • Wildfire, 812 S Austin Ave.
  • Dos Salas, 1104 S. Main St.
If you have transportation, there will be many more choices within a mile or 2 of campus, mostly along the I-35 corridor. And if you're willing to go further afield, the greater Austin area is not just the live music capitol of America, it's also a great restaurant town. The web site Yardbarker recently rated Austin as #2 in it's "20 foodie destinations in the United States". (#1 was Portland, Maine.)

Note: The Cove pub on campus, which will be open in the evenings, will not have kitchen service, just bar snacks available.
