The Evanston Go Club will host the 2024 Chicago Open on Memorial Day Weekend May 25-26 at Holiday Inn Chicago North-Evanston. The event features seven rounds over two days, complete with prizes, lectures and a dinner party. All games are AGA-rated. See the website here.
The Evanston Go Club’s previous events, the 2023 Chicago Open and 2023 Chicago Rapid drew over 100 players from across 15 states. Both events broke records as the largest-ever Midwest Go tournament. All top finishers of each division receive medals and prizes. Beginner youth players are welcome to participate in the free 9-by-9 tournament with fun prizes. Lunch on both days will be a Taiwanese bento box with a drink provided by Tealicious Bubble Tea. Dinner will be a Mediterranean buffet catered by Pita Inn. Both vegetarian and gluten-free options are available.
This year, players can use the Sunday lecture hour to recuperate, review games and learn from strong players. Groups of 5 or more can enjoy a $5 discount per person off the registration fee. Youth under 18 (or current high schoolers) are eligible for a $10 discount. Holiday Inn Chicago North-Evanston is offering discounted accommodations and parking for all tournament participants. Book here to purchase a discounted room.
Register early to claim the $10 early bird discount. Regular registration fee pricing for both days is $85 for the Open division and $70 for the Main division. For more details, please visit the Registration Form.
