About this event
The San Diego Go Club will host the 2023 San Diego Go Championship on Sunday, April 30, at the San Diego Chess Club in Balboa Park.
The 12th annual go competition will be 3-rounds, with 45-minutes and 5 periods of Byo-yomi.
The 2022 SD Championship had more than 50-players. Past winners include Mark Lee 10-dan, Ari Saito 7-dan, and the defending champion King Bi 6-dan. No player has ever won the SD Championship twice. Competition should be fierce this year with a strong group of players from UCSD. There will be an Open section for the strongest players and at last three handicap sections.
All AGA members are welcome to play - from beginners to pros.
The entry fee for adults and the Open is $20 and $10 for youth in the handicap section. All entry fees will be turned into cash prizes.
Pizza will be served for lunch to all players.
For non-players, Balboa Park, the gem of parks in San Diego, has nine museums, several gardens, the World Famous Zoo, and a free outdoor organ concert every Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
