OK so it’s not quite the Super Bowl, but Go fans have two chances to catch some competition this
weekend when the EJ streams games at the National Go Center’s Lunar New Year tournament on Saturday and Pandanet-AGA City League games on Sunday.
The NGC Lunar New Year tournament stream is expected to begin at 9a ET on Saturday, and will feature a test of five of the AGA’s new electronic game recording boards. Watch on our YouTube or Twitch channels.
On Sunday, the Pandanet-AGA City League stream – pitting Vancouver against Denver -- begins at 5p ET, with commentary by Calvin Sun. Vancouver is currently 1-0 after defeating Boston 3-0 in the first round, and is one of the favorites to make it to the finals at the end of the regular season on the backs of pros Henry Yu 2p and Bill Lin 1p, as well as top Canadian amateur Brady Zhang 7 dan. Facing Vancouver will be Denver, who was promoted to the A League after winning the B League in 2023. While they had a rough 2024 season placing 7th place in the league, they will try to turn it around this season to minimally maintain their position in A League. Currently 0-1 after a close 1-2 defeat against Seattle in the first round, Denver's team consists of Bowen Zhang 7d, Yan Jin 6d, winner of the 2024 Southern Colorado Open, and Nicole Chen 4d.
