New England Open Sets Record Attendance at Third Annual Tournament

Chris Garlock | Published on 9/5/2024

The third New England Open saw a record turnout with 69 participants, a remarkable achievement for this growing event. Among the attendees, 11% were DDK (Double Digit Kyu) players, highlighting the tournament’s commitment to welcoming players of all strengths. To encourage broader participation, entry fees for DDK players were set at half-price.

“The New England Open continues to grow,” said TD Trevor Morris, “thanks to the passion and dedication of its participants and organizers, promising another fantastic event next year!”

Open Section Highlights: Alan Huang (7d) emerged as the champion, going undefeated and living up to his title with appropriately emblazoned "Champion" attire. Jeremy Chiu (7d) took second place, making it a thrilling contest at the top level.
