Still more excursion options at the 2024 U.S. Go Congress (& LAST CHANCE to save!)

Chris Garlock | Published on 6/15/2024

Today’s the last day to save before rates increase for this year’s U.S. Go Congress, set for July 13-21 in Portland, OR; click here to book now. This is the year’s biggest gathering of Go players, with tournaments, professional lectures and workshops and so much more, including lots to do on the traditional mid-week Day Off. Here are some more options…

Columbia Gorge Excursion: The Go Congress has chartered a bus to make a guided excursion through the scenic Columbia Gorge. This excursion leaves on our off day (Wednesday) and stops for some photography and hike opportunities, followed by a drive along the Columbia river, a stop for lunch in Carson, followed by a visit to the Bonneville Dam and Fish Hatchery. The price is $49 per person. We have a planned lunch stop at the Backwoods Brewing Company in Carson -- please bring money for lunch!
Note: Due to ongoing repairs by the park service from the 2017 Eagle Creek fire, we've been advised that we need to stay flexible about our exact stop since available parks may vary each day. Our first pick is Multnomah Falls, and we are attempting to get the necessary permit to get a tour group in. We may need to substitute an alternative stop, however! CLICK HERE TO REGISTER

Seadoos and Motorboats: If you'd like a more thrilling experience on the river, it is possible to rent Seadoos or even party boats, including a 10-person electric boat or a 6-person boat with built-in hot tub!

Portland Art Museum
: The beautiful Portland Art Museum is located within walking distance of the PSU campus. Although the museum is undergoing an extensive upgrade and renovation which has closed off most of the permanent exhibits and added some construction noise, there will be some exhibits open during the Congress including: Pissarro to Picasso: Masterworks on Loan from the Kirkland Family Collection, Monet to Matisee: French Moderns, and Future Now: Virtual Sneakers to Cutting-Edge Kicks.
