Long-time U.S. Go Congress attendee Jim Hlavka passed away at 74 years old on May 2, 2024. Beginning at the second Congress, Jim was a regular attendee through the 2022 Congress at Estes Park. For about a decade he was TD of the Congress 13x13 tournament until handing it off to others several years ago. In the early years Jim tried his hand at writing a Go software program and in recent years was an enthusiastic supporter of the American Go Foundation. He is survived by his daughter Eileen and his wife Chris who helped judge the Congress song contest for many years, and with whom he played in the Pair Go tournament, and the couple could always be relied upon to sing after the banquet.
