Swiping & annotating: SmartGo One adds features

Chris Garlock | Published on 5/28/2024

Replaying games is a crucial feature of the SmartGo One app, and now this is even easier: just swipe in the empty area below the board to go forward or backward in a game. “This new feature is somewhat experimental, taking advantage of otherwise unused space,” notes SmartGo’s Anders Kierulf. “Personally, I find that it works really well, but please let me know what you think, and if you have ideas on how to improve it.”

SmartGo One also now has improved board annotation capability. “You can now add lines and arrows as well as arbitrary text labels,” says Kierulf. Tap on Markup in the tools popup, then tap and hold on one of the markup icons to get a popup menu. For text labels, tap and hold on the label icon, then choose between uppercase, lowercase, numbers, or arbitrary labels.
NOTE: Swipe in the area indicated by the arrows to replay the game; don’t look for the arrows in the app, they’re provided in the graphic for illustrative purposes.
