Registration for the 39th annual US Go Congress is now open; click here to begin the process. The Congress -- set for July 8–16 at Kent State University near Cleveland, Ohio -- is the largest go activity in North America; events include the US Open, professional lectures and game analysis, continuous self-paired games, and all kinds of go-related activities from morning to midnight. "Come for the go," say organizers. "Come for the camaraderie of old friends. Whatever your reason, we are looking forward to seeing you there!"
This year, Congress registration will happen in two steps: First, attendees will register for the Congress itself by entering their personal information and paying the registration fee, then, a bit later, they'll receive an email that it's time for to sign up for housing and a meal plan.
The Cuyahoga Valley is an area rich in nature and culture, "the perfect setting for both players and non-players alike," say organizers, "an ideal vacation destination, so bring the whole family!" The Kent State campus is 60 minutes from Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE) and 30 minutes from Akron-Canton Airport (CAK) Shuttle service is planned, but attendees might want to rent a car to explore the area. The Congress has a number of rooms reserved on-site, or attendees can choose from many off-site locations, but organizers suggest acting soon as summer fills up quickly.
