Registration is open for the Bob Barber 2026 Chicago Rapid Championship, set for Saturday,
October 24, at the Holiday Inn Chicago North–Evanston. Billed as the country’s largest one-day Go tournament, the event will feature five AGA-rated games in a McMahon format, with free entry for youth players.
The tournament is being organized by the Nextmove Foundation, which recently received a $1,000 donation from longtime Midwest organizer and Evanston Go Club member Bob Barber. “It just feels like we are all old friends,” said organizing director Albert Yen. “The Go community has a unique form of camaraderie.”
Early-bird registration runs through October 7. Entry is $40 for players ranked 18k–4d and $50 for the 5d-and-up Open section, with prices increasing by $10 after the deadline.
