The Maine Go Club held its fourth State Championship August 23 at Think Tank in Portland,
drawing ten players from across the state.
Aaron Pettengil, playing White, defeated Glen Gallik in the final to claim his second state championship. The game lasted more than two hours, giving the other competitors a chance to gather around and watch its dramatic endgame.
Three new AGA members competed this year, including a player from Bar Harbor who is looking to connect with more players in that region. Internet Go School, OGS, American Yunguseng Dojang and others contributed prizes—and bagels and coffee kept everyone fueled between the morning rounds.
