Thomas Hsiang Receives 2026 INAF Lifetime Achievement Award

The Iwamoto North America Foundation for Go has posthumously presented its 2026 Lifetime Achievement Award to founder Thomas Hsiang, who died in February.
“Thomas’ record of productivity and beneficial influence throughout decades of promoting Go in North America is second to no one’s and it is with profound gratitude we recognize it today,” said INAF director and former American Go Association (AGA) president Andrew Okun.

A distinguished player and tireless organizer, Hsiang strengthened North American representation in international Go, helped create new opportunities for players and organizers, and founded INAF in 2014 with a $2 million endowment. His vision also helped establish the National Go Center in Washington, DC, and foster greater collaboration across the North American Go community.
