Top prizemoney winners were promoted as follows: To 2-dan: Cho Kosumi, Yanagihara Saki; To 3-dan: Konishi Yoshiakira, Sho Gyokuyo; To 4-dan: I Ryo, Mito Shuhei; To 5-dan: Nishioka Masao, Otani Naoki; To 6-dan: Sakai Yuki, Ueno Asami; To 7-dan: Koyama Kuya.


2024 International Results

MLily Cup (5th): Li Xuanhao 9-dan (China) beat Dang Yifei 3–1 (May 4). 1.8 million yuan ($250,696).

SENKO Cup (10th): Choi Jeong 9-dan (Korea) (B) beat Suzuki Ayumi 7-dan (Japan) (July 10). 10 million yen ($69,444).

Kuksu Mountains World Open (10th): Lai Junfu 8-dan (Taiwan) edged Shin Jinseo 9-dan (Korea) by half a point (Aug. 5)—a landmark win for a Taiwanese against the world’s #1. 75 million won ($55,000).

Ing Cup (10th): Ichiriki Ryo 9-dan (Japan) swept Xie Ke 9-dan (China) 3–0, Japan’s first international open title in 19 years. $400,000. Ichiriki had to buy extra time (25 minutes for two stones) once in
 the first game and twice in the second. In the third he staged an upset in an unfavorable position.

Quzhou Lanke World Open (2nd): Shin Jinseo beat Gu Zihao 2–0 (Aug. 21). 1.8 million yuan. This is a new large-scale Chinese-sponsored tournament.

Samsung Cup (29th): Ding Hao 9-dan beat Dang Yifei 2–1 (Nov. 22). 300 million won.

Go Seigen Cup World Women’s (7th): Ueno Asami 5-dan beat Tang Jiawen 2–1 (Dec. 1), her second international title.
