A standing-room-only crowd turned out for "All The Ways To Go" author Jessie Janowitz at the National Go Center on January 15. Young Go players, their parents and regular Wednesday night club players listened raptly as the popular young-adult author gave a talk about how she came to write the Go-themed book and the enthusiastic response from readers of all ages she’s been finding since its’ release last September.
NGC Executive Director – and AGA president – Gurujeet Khalsa thanked Janowitz for writing such an accessible book about Go and announced that the NGC was making her an honorary member in appreciation, and presented her with an NGC t-shirt.
The Brooklyn-based writer’s guide to the world of Go was Paul Lockhart, a math teacher at Saint Ann's School in Brooklyn for many years, and the father of Will Lockhart, who co-directed, with Cole Pruitt, The Surrounding Game, a 2017 documentary about Go. “I really love how the game demands your complete attention,” Janowitz said.
After a Q&A session, she autographed books for attendees and then played a game with one of the young players in attendance. Every young player received a free copy of “All The Ways To Go”, provided by the NGC, and all were treated to free pizza from 2AMYS, also courtesy of the NGC.
