Slack.
White 1 throws away points.
Black can hane at 2 and connect at 4 in sente.
The big problem for White is the loss of what is normally
his privilege to hane at 4 and connect at 2 in sente.
(White would threaten to connect up to his lower 3 stones.)
White has to go back to defend at 5.
The difference at the bottom right between a Black hane and connect
vs. the same by White is about 12 points.
Such a loss would be unbearable for White.
Correct.
White 1 is a nice tesuji!
In this game line, Black 2 and 4 cuts off White's access to the center,
but White retains the privilege of the big hane (at A) and connect (at B)
sente sequence in the bottom right.
Black variation.
Capturing at 2 would be a mistake.
When White squeezes at 3, Black has also lost the chance to cut off White from the center.
