Correct.
Moves like White 1 give defending players nightmares.
Although Black can live with 4, Black cannot avoid losing
part of his group.
Black variation.
If Black attacks from the other side with 2, White lives
in the corner through 7. Black is in serious trouble.
Inferior.
White 1 is the right idea, but an inferior move order.
Black 2 takes the key point to force White to capture
the 2 stones to the left.
After White 7, Black is somewhat better than in the main line.
Slack.
White 1 lets Black off the hook.
Through 4, Black lives with a nice chunk of corner territory.
