Joseki.
White 1 and 3 lead to a fair exchange for both players.
Black converts some of his moyo into territory and
White reduces the size of the moyo.
Black variation.
If Black 4 foolishly plays elsewhere, White has the
hard blow at 5. If Black 6 blocks at the top, White 7
separates the 2 Black groups. Black's big moyo is only a
fading memory.
Black variation.
If Black 6 blocks on the right side, White 7 crashes through to
split Black again. The difference between this position and
the main line is huge.
White variation.
White 1 and 3 are the wrong move order. Black can defend
more efficiently with 2 and 4.
White has needlessly lost points relative to the main line.
